Description
The channelling tool was used to create the depth in the folds of the drapery.

Notes

A comparison of all of the portraits of Trajan on the Column shows considerable variety. While some show the emperor looking relatively youthful, in this example he looks more mature. This might suggest that a series of carvers were responsible.
