Description
The lower part of the border between spirals and several of the Dacians in this scene are outlined with a channel cut either using a channelling tool or a narrow flat chisel.

Notes

In this detail the way in which the scene on the spiral above is carved right down on top of the scene below, causing the spiral to pass behind the sword-wielding Dacian's arm, supports the suggestion that the frieze was carved moving from bottom to top. The Dacian to the right was clearly intended to have a metal weapon inserted into his hand, something he never received, again indicating that this adding of metal inserts was a second phase of work.
