A block line runs horizontally through the middle of this scene just above the line of the heads of the crowd in the foreground. A vertical block joint can be seen between the fifth and sixth figures from the left in the front row and it looks very much like a space is deliberately left for this, again indicating that the carvers were not comfortable carving across the joins between blocks.
