Detail of the western end of the south side of the passageway.
It is striking that on both the south and north sides of the passageway the moulding of the entablature above the reliefs is left blank with only the projecting corners at each end given any detailed attention. This might have been a deliberate choice to avoid detracting from the main reliefs or it might have resulting from a rush to finish the monument. Work on the moulding seems to have stopped just before it turned the corner and no attempt was made to work out how this decorative scheme used would have been carved around this corner.
