Measuring points can be seen on this part-finished statue of a Dacian prisoner. Exactly how these were used is unclear. They are probably not to be connected with the modern pointing machine but rather acted as references points for the carver to take measurements from during the carving process.
The rest of the body has been worked roughly with the flat chisel and never taken beyond this stage, except on the front of the figure, especially the face.
