Point chisel marks can be seen on the background around the head and down the right side of the body of this figure. These represent the vestiges of a first phase of roughing-out not removed by later work.
An insert fixed with a pin was evidently placed on top of the staff held by this figure. Perhaps this was a repair done in antiquity or an insert of a differently coloured stone.
