4. Lifting boss

The lifting bosses in the background would have assisted the attachment of ropes to these blocks during the construction process. They were meant to have been removed once the blocks were put in place but for some reason never were.

5. Pin socket

The hole at the base of the column shaft in the foreground is made by the removal of a metal pin which would originally have fixed this shaft in place.
