A clamp was also fixed across the joint between the torso and the arm.

Notes

This statue was carved for at least six pieces of stone. Both the arms were carved separately and pinned in place, as were sections of the helmet and the cloak, and the portrait head. This technique of piecing was common in the Hellenistic period and the early Roman Imperial period but becomes rarer after the mid 1st century AD.
