Notes

This panel is carved far more deeply than many of the Sebasteion reliefs. The carver took considerable time to carve in around the figure of the hero and separate him as much as possible from the background - something that other carvers involved in the project were less prepared to do. This observation adds further support to the argument that a range of carvers were involved in the Sebasteion project, which is hardly surprising since it took at least forty years to build.
