Notes

Like all of the carved panels inserted into the Sebasteion this one is carved from a single block of stone. It could, therefore, have been carved before being inserted into place, though it is impossible to know whether this is what happened for sure. The composition of the scene depicted here is quite different from other reliefs used in the monument, supporting the view that different teams of carvers were involved in this project.
