The parallel cuts on the bed-rock in this detail are the marks of a long saw operated by two people.

Notes

The Bacakale Quarry is the largest quarry at Iscehisar (ancient Dokimeion) and the focus of modern activity at the site. Both white and coloured marble are extracted here, the latter a white-cream breccia with purple veins (pavonazzetto).
