Notes

The Bacakale Quarry is the largest quarry at Iscehisar (ancient Dokimeion) and the focus of modern activity at the site. Both white and coloured marble are extracted here, the latter a white-cream breccia with purple veins (pavonazzetto). This image shows a series of roughed-out blocks, some ancient ones which has been recovered from debris piles and some modern.
