Description
A channelling tool was used following the drill to carve the deep channels in the coffering.

Notes

The decorative moulding that runs around the monument at the height of the top of the archway reliefs, as can be seen here, is not as fully ornamented on the interior of the archway as it is on the exterior. This is a pattern found also on the Arch of Titus and perhaps results from a desire not to detract from the main sculpted panels in the archway.
