Description
The numerous block joints visible on this pier show that the arch was built of irregularly sized blocks. Since the carving of the reliefs crosses these lines without interruption it was probably done in place, once the blocks had been erected.

Notes

Here the varying compositions of the different scenes on the arch can be seen. The main scenes on the piers are large and the figures fairly cramped but the composition unadventurous, while higher up the thin frieze at the top is much more spaced out to allow for a certain readability.
