Description
Block lines on the column shafts show that long blocks were laid horizontally crossing both columns and central scenes. Compared to the pier on the other side there are differently sized blocks in use here. The fact that the decoration crosses so neatly between blocks strongly suggests that most, it not all, carving was done once the blocks had been erected.
