1. Measuring point

Process
Measurement
Tool
Callipers
Description
Measuring points can be seen on the back of this figure's legs. These were probably reference points that the carver used to take measurements from, though their exact function is unknown. They were presumably left on the back because they were not visible.

Rough shaping
Tool
Point
Method
Angle: Steep (60-70°)

Description
Point chiselling is visible on the back of the tree stump support next to this figure.

3. Toolmarks

Process
Fine shaping
Tool
Roundel
Method
Angle: Shallow (40-50°)
Force: Medium
Description
Finer work with the roundel can be seen around the side and front of this support. This tool was deliberately used to give the trunk texture.
