Description
Saraylar is the main harbour for marble exports from Marmara Adası (ancient Prokonnesos). This photo was taken before the large new jetty was constructed to allow larger vessels to moor in the harbour. Harbour-side cranes must have existed in the Roman period to facilitate loading of large blocks on to ships at Saraylar.
