Place: Ephesos

Ephesos was the largest city in Roman Asia Minor. Originally an Attic-Ionian foundation it became the major Ionian city in the Classical period and boomed as the capital of the Roman province of Asia. It was famed for its Temple of Artemis/Diana, the patron goddess of the city, and is today one of the best preserved ancient cities in Turkey.
