Flat Chisel

Description
This carving has been done with the flat chisel, as almost all work at Butkara was.

Notes

These reliquaries have clear Classically influenced architectural elements, such as triglyphs and Corinthian capitals. This continuous relief of animals' heads is less Classical than some of the decorative details found at Butkara and the creatures themselves are more similar to later Medieval gargoyles.
