The back of the statue is roughly worked with the point chisel but likely would not have been worked more than flattened because these sculptures were likely intended to be mounted on a wall.

Notes

The unfinished tableau created for the coronation of Ferdinand II of Argon by Benedetto da Maiano was intended for the Porta Capuana in Naples.
