These elements are roughed-out with the point chisel.

Notes

These roughed-out elements were found in quarrying debris in the Roman quarries at Carrara. More detailed carving on these objects would have been undertaken at the building site. They were probably abandoned because of faults found in the stone and indeed the capital on the right has a large crack through it.
