Long parallel lines of the heavy quarry pick can be seen on this quarryface which are typical of Roman working.

Notes

This section of quarryface bearing traces of the quarry pick was removed from the Carrara quarries, where it was threatened by modern work, and is now on display in the Museo del Marmo in Carrara.
