A Roman cavalryman being swept away with his horse on the Constantinian frieze from the Arch of Constantine. The disjuncture between the details on the two blocks, the way that some of the carving seems to be broken by the division between them, might suggest that this work was carried out on the ground before the blocks were lifted into place.
