The largest quarry-faces are concentrated on the western side of the Taşkesiği hill.

Description
The large debris piles in front of them are composed mainly of chips of stone left over from quarrying. Around 50-60 % of the stone extracted would have ended up as waste like this.

Notes

This aerial photograph (north at the top) shows the intensity of quarrying along the western side of the Taşkesiği hill, roughly 2 km north of Aphrodisias. The large debris piles are especially clear, as are the shadows made by the highest quarry faces. Across the rest of the ridge, to the east, the remains of much smaller quarries can also be seen.
