Description
A channelling tool has been used following the drill to carve deep grooves in the relief.

Notes

The decorated border on this pier is slightly different on its two decorated faces (the west and the south), indicating perhaps that two or more carvers were working on it at the same time and interpreting the instructions for it, presumably a sketch, differently. On this face, in comparison with the south face (see PR304_01_12), the border is more carefully modelled rather than simply outlined with the drill and channelling tool.
