Roman legionary building a fort.
This soldier holds a hammer which is similar to mason's hammers shown on Roman tombstones. There is considerable variety in the range of hammers depicted on the Column of Trajan. This soldier is also holding a chisel which looks like a point chisel even though he is carving wood. A lot of effort was also put into completing this figure's facial features and hair making it look almost like a portrait.
