The rough marks of a point chisel can be seen on the backs of the blocks behind this panel, the vestiges of the squaring of these blocks before detailed carving began.
Marks of the point chisel can be seen between the drapery of Victory's cloak and the background, presumably the vestiges of the roughed-out state of the panel in an area which would not have been visible from the ground.
