Description
Marks of the point chisel can be seen around the edge of the hole at the bottom of this image. This work was undertaken to remove a metal clamp from the Column at some point in the post-Roman period.

Notes

The damage at the bottom of this image has been caused by later cutting to remove a metal clamp. The hole made by this activity has since been filled with a cement. Again the difference in scale between the figures and the buildings on the Column can be seen.
