Tool
Drill
Method
Vertical (90°)
Description
The lines between the fingers and in the mappa (handkerchief) that the official holds must have been started with the drill. In comparison with earlier togate figures, however, there is little sign of drilling on the toga itself.

Channelling Tool
Method
Angle: Shallow (40-50°)
Force: Gentle
Description
Following drilling a very narrow channelling tool or flat chisel must have been used to add depth to the folds of the mappa.
