This statue type was found in two different sizes at Aphrodisias while another example was found on the Esquiline in Rome and is now in Copenhagen. This last version was signed by an Aphrodisian sculptor. Clearly this was a popular arrangement among the sculptors of the city. The fact that they were capable of producing two near-identical statues in different sizes might indicate that these carvers used models or drawings of this statue type, but it is also possible that this was a form that they were simply used to carving.
