Description
The central boss on the chest is roughed-out with the point chisel but not worked any further.

Notes

This sarcophagus has had its strigillated panels carved but the central decorative detail has been left as a rough boss for later finishing. Whether this was meant to be done when the chest was sold or after the death of the commissioner is not clear.
