Description
This channel along the back of the block on the right has been cut using a pick, the marks of which can be seen on the rock-face to the left. This channel was wide enough for a quarryman to stand in and narrows towards the end of the block where it did not need to be so wide.

Description
Wedge holes are visible along the base of the block on the right. These were put in ready for the block to be split from the bedrock but this never took place.

Notes

The Bacakale Quarry is the largest quarry at Iscehisar (ancient Dokimeion) and the focus of modern activity at the site. Both white and coloured marble are extracted here, the latter a white-cream breccia with purple veins (pavonazzetto).
