The South Agora at Aphrodisias was the city's second most important public plaza after the North Agora. In was originally laid out in the early 1st century AD. In its final form it was surrounded on its northern, western and southern sides with colonnades decorated with a mask and garland frieze. Access on the eastern side was provided via the monumental Agora Gate. The Basilica and the Hadrianic Baths opened on to the South Agora.
