Description
The incised lines and compass holes for the laying out of the fluting are visible at the top of these flutes. The vertical lines were incised using a plumb line for guidance while the compass hole marks the centre point of a circle which provides the distance between the flutes. These details are clearer in PR202_01_13

Notes

Fluting is always done once the column is in place because it would be impossible to line up flutes across multiple drums otherwise. It is also the case that this system of using plumb lines to lay out the lines of the flutes can only be done in the column's final position.
