These guidelines inscribed into the paving outside Pula amphitheatre seem to show key elements of the architectural design in profile and probably acted as reference points for the carvers involved. Similar guidelines have been found outside the amphitheatre at Capua and on the paving outside the Mausoleum of Augustus.
