Description
The carver has painted a series of guides on the stone. Red lines mark out a grid and black lines the outline of the decorative form.

Description
Marks of the point are visible on the side of the block and the roughly worked decorative element. The carver is also holding a very short point chisel. These are used very delicately even though this is a hard stone.
