In places carving ceases between the blocks. For example the vine scroll does not cross the joint between the upper and lower blocks.

Notes

The different levels of finish suggest a degree of specialization which is much more common in modern workshops. In particular note that the hair and flesh on these figures is unfinished whereas elsewhere the hair is done before faces. There is a drawing of the toolmarks used on this section (PR500_06_13)
